Amidon Music
This is round 3 for AmidonMusic.com. We updated to Joomla! 3 so that we could take advantage of tagging items in their Online Choral Music Store.
Peter and Mary Alice Amidon had a static html site that Peter managed using Text Wrangler and CyberDuck, but as we added more and more functionality: mp3 players and links to paypal and ejunkie, it became clear that they would benefit from a modern site.
We decided on Joomla! and I built the site template using OneWeb as a starting place for a responsive design that adjusts display for smaller devices – tablets and phones.
They had used individual paypal “buy now” buttons for each cd on their previous site, but I wanted to try something that might keep people on the site a little longer. J2Store is an extension that turns regular Joomla articles into products, with an Add to Cart button added at the bottom. The Add to Cart button is also displayed in a blog format list of articles, and functions like a shopping cart which interfaces with Paypal when the shopper is ready to check out. While it can be used to sell downloads, we didn’t implement that – Peter was happy with the interface with ejunkie, so we left the downloads of sheetmusic there, while cds and books – the physical products – are sold through the J2Store links.
