Services Offered:

In a nutshell, I offer planning, organization, design, and coding in html and css. I can add some other functionality through basic javascripts and coldfusion programming, but if you don't know what those things are, that's OK! It's my job to listen to your goals and ideas and recommend the proper level of coding and programming. And if I can't provide what I think you need, I'll call in a colleague or refer you to someone else.

I will work with you to plan a website that will attract visitors, help them find what they are looking for and help you achieve your goals for your business or organization.

When we've laid out clear goals and have a sense of who this site means to attract and what you want your visitors to do, then we can begin to think about a structure and storyboards for what we will build. I used the plural for storyboards because you will probably have several types of visitors who will take very different paths through your site. Anticipating their questions and providing those paths is what it's all about.

Finally, we get to think about what the site will look like. I'll make paper and then computer "sketches" of possible designs and let you guide the process with your preferences. The web is NOT a print media where we can totally control how things will appear. I'll help you understand which elements we can and which ones are up to the user, their computer, font, browser, and other settings. Only when we've agreed on a basic design will I begin to write the code to make that sketch work on the internet.

Following the current standards for web pages, I will write in code that keeps the content separate from the presentation. Your pages are written in html (hyper text markup language) and the code that controls where and how it appears on the page is in a cascading style sheet (css) document. This external file with all the font, color and layout specifications separate from the content can be modified or even replaced when your site is ready for a facelift -- without having to rewrite all of the pages!
